A Bit About Me

Heather Skarratt

Following is a little information about myself and my art.

After a life-long interest in art I took up painting upon part-time retirement in 1990. Encouraged by a friend who was a well known watercolourist I joined her classes and attended for 3 years.

Since then I have attended many classes and workshops conducted by other leading artists in a variety of fields including Pastels, Acrylics and Mixed Media. I have enjoyed my expriences with all these forms of painting but Watercolour remains my favourite medium.

From my travels around Australia I have painted landscapes and seascapes from first hand views and of course I particularly love the beautiful scenery of the Blue Mountains, my home of 20 years. Flowers and garden scenes have also inspired many paintings.

My works are exhibited on a regular basis and I have received several awards. Many of my paintings have been sold over the years and are hung in private collections locally, interstate and overseas.

I am an active participant in the society of Mountain artists which provides valuable interaction with fellow artists, access to workshops, demonstations and regular exhibitions. I have held positions on the Board of Directors of the Society and as Co-ordinator of the Society's Art Gallery at Everglades, Leura.
